Fort William Under 17’s took a major step to winning the second major title at under 17 level this year when beating Lochaber in the London shield semi final clash at An Aird. The game was a close encounter where Fort William dominated possession however could not break down the strong Lochaber defence of Calum Fraser, Ryan Johnston, Barry MacDonald & Calum MacDonald. Bryn Whittaker in the Lochaber goal would be a strong contender for man of the match with some fine saves through out both normal time and extra time.
Fort William who had fielded no fewer than seven juveniles in the premier league clash the day before against Scottish champions Newtonmore showed no signs of tired legs as they controlled long spells of the game however Lochaber did have there chances to steal the game in normal time, but could not finish any chances like Fort William. The game remained on a knife point until the last hit of the game when Alexander Macmillian fired home the critical goal that takes Fort William through to the final.
Fort William had many stand out performances again however four stand out performers were Sean Leader, Calum Shepard, Jake MacPhee, and Gregor Cameron.
Well done lads!
